Coffee bean pack
The essence of the coffee bean pack: a journey from producer to cup
The world of coffee is vast, complex and steeped in history. Every packet of coffee beans you buy embodies a part of this adventure, from the plantations in the four corners of the globe to your coffeemaker. For many, the simple act of holding a packet of coffee beans in your hands is a promise of warm moments, delicate flavours and incomparable aromatic pleasures.
The journey of these beans often begins on plantations in Africa, South America or Asia, where coffee is grown with care by small-scale producers. At Torrefactory, every pack of coffee beans comes from this direct and fair relationship with the growers. This privileged relationship with the growers guarantees both better remuneration for the farmers and optimum quality beans selected according to strict criteria.
Once harvested, coffee beans undergo meticulous processing: coffee cherries are hand-picked, dried and hulled to release the green beans. The green beans are then shipped to roasting centers, where their full aromatic potential is revealed through controlled roasting. It's at this stage that the master roaster plays a central role, fine-tuning every variable to create a unique flavor profile.
Coffee bean packaging: preserving freshness in every pack
Packaging coffee beans is a key step in preserving freshness and aroma. Each package of coffee beans must be designed to protect its contents from external elements such as oxygen, humidity or light, which could alter the quality of the beans. Modern packaging, often featuring a one-way valve, allows the coffee beans to degas naturally after roasting, while preventing air from entering the package. This ensures that the beans retain their freshness and aroma until they are used.
At Torrefactory, we pay particular attention to this stage. Each pack of coffee beans is carefully packaged to ensure optimum preservation. Thanks to our controlled supply chain, our packs retain their quality from the moment the beans leave the roaster until they arrive in your kitchen. The choice of packaging is designed to offer a perfect experience every time you open it.
The role of the port of Antwerp in coffee bean distribution
Did you know that Belgium plays a key role in global coffee distribution? The port of Antwerp, one of the largest in the world, is a hub for coffee storage and distribution. At any given time, hundreds of thousands of tons of coffee beans are stored here. This strategic location facilitates logistics and offers optimal storage conditions, particularly suited to preserving the beans.
Flanders' temperate climate, combined with a modern infrastructure, offers extra protection to the coffee beans stored in Belgium. So it's not surprising that many coffee beans destined for European consumers pass through the port of Antwerp before being packed in packages designed to guarantee freshness.
