The Torrefactory manifesto
Roasting for impact

Who we are

Torrefactory is a Belgian specialty coffee roaster founded in 2017.

Today, Torrefactory is the result of the time and dedication invested by our close-knit team, who together defined three pillars upon which we base all our actions: providing more than just quality coffee, adopting an eco-friendly approach, and fostering lasting relationships.

Throughout the year, we roast sustainably harvested coffee beans using an artisanal process in Mont-Saint-Guibert and Namur.

Together, we are proud to offer quality beans and services to local businesses, as well as a selection of freshly roasted coffees to individuals.

Roasting for impact

We offer exceptional coffee, artfully roasted with a commitment to transparency. Our team is dedicated to supporting responsible farming practices and finding concrete solutions to minimize our carbon footprint, ensuring that our business generates economic, social, and environmental value for both our international partners and our local community.

From harvesting the beans to packaging the bags, our coffee is roasted to make a positive impact—on your mood, on our environment, and on the people involved. Whether you’re at home, on the go, or at the office—enjoy our coffee wherever you are.

Our impact objectives.

Beyond quality coffee

At Torrefactory, every cup we serve is guided by purpose, creating an authentic, sustainable and delicious coffee experience. Firstly, we prioritize sustainable sourcing by working directly with producers and importers who share our values. Second, we strive to make excellent coffee affordable for everyone, creating an exceptional experience without compromising quality. Finally, our expertise in artisanal roasting at "La TF" brings out the unique flavors of each bean.

Objective 1: Sustainable supply, from grain to cup
At Torrefactory, we believe that quality coffee should not come at the expense of the planet or its producers.
For this reason, we are committed to sourcing our coffee sustainably. We favor direct trade with small farms and cooperatives, as well as with importers who share our values.
The result? A cup of coffee that not only awakens your senses, but also supports a sustainable and socially responsible coffee industry.
For us, direct trade means working with importers who share our values and objectives. Thanks to these importers, who minimize middlemen and work directly with the cooperatives, we are able to buy directly from small farms while paying them a premium price for their coffee. However, we want to go beyond this model and buy direct from producers wherever possible. We're proud to say that we've taken our first step towards this goal by partnering with La Finca de Doña Ana in Honduras, where we source our beans directly.
Objective 2: High quality at an affordable price
We do our best to ensure that everyone has access to quality coffee at a reasonable price. Whether it's for a morning at home or a busy day at the office, we want to offer you the best quality coffee at an affordable price.
Our coffee is the result of a passionate pursuit to reveal the unique flavors and aromas of each bean. We don't settle for anything less than exceptional, and that's why we're committed to making every coffee nothing short of extraordinary.
Objective 3: Local roasting know-how
In our roasting house, nicknamed "La TF", we give priority to freshly roasted, local, artisanal coffee beans.
Our beans are roasted in small batches in Mont-Saint-Guibert using traditional methods.
We emphasize slow roasting to bring out the unique character of each coffee. Whether it's hints of blueberry in our Costa Rican coffee, or pleasant ripe fruit aromas in our organic Colombian coffee, we adapt our roasting recipe to bring out the full flavor profile of each bean. We pride ourselves on our perfectionist quality standards, tasting every batch to ensure that you always receive the best possible cup of coffee.

An ecological approach

Our environmental approach is based on two clear objectives. First, we focus our efforts on reducing our carbon emissions at every stage of our activities, from sourcing to operations and logistics. For emissions that cannot yet be avoided, we have chosen to offset them through rigorously selected projects, bearing in mind that offsetting can only be a complement—and never a substitute—for reduction actions. Second, we are committed to a local and circular economy, aiming for better use of resources and waste reduction. Our action plan covers the entire value chain: rethinking deliveries, reducing emissions, and introducing 100% recyclable packaging. At Torrefactory, ecology is not a promise, but a series of concrete actions, rooted in our philosophy and our desire to contribute to a more responsible coffee industry.

Goal 4: Minimize our carbon emissions
Our mission is to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030, and we believe that quality coffee means respecting all parties involved, especially our planet. We are committed to reducing our emissions as much as possible. We will offset the remaining emissions through reference projects. This commitment is a challenge, but it's something we're prepared to fight for. Together, we assessed our carbon emissions and targeted different areas where we could improve. With this, we developed an action plan that spans the entire supply chain, reduced emissions during the delivery process and created 100% recyclable packaging for our coffee. From bean to cup, no detail has been overlooked to reduce our impact on the environment.
Objective 5: Circular economy
The future is circular, and so is our approach to coffee. For this reason, at Torrefactory, we follow the guidelines of the circular economy. Within our operations, we strive to reduce, reuse and recycle materials that would otherwise become waste. For a long time, we'd been keen to switch to greener packaging. Now, after months of thought, planning and work, we're proud to say that we have 100% recyclable coffee packaging (even the degassing valve is made from recycled materials!). This comes at a cost to us, but we believe it's important to lead by example and set a standard for sustainability in an industry that often falls short.

Meaningful, long-lasting relationships

At Torrefactory, we prioritize strong relationships by focusing on several key goals. First, we support fair-trade coffee producers, even sourcing directly from them to ensure unbeatable quality. We strive to serve at least 75% local and independent customers. Internally, we make it a point of honor to foster a great team spirit at work, which is reflected in our exceptional coffee. Finally, we just want you to be delighted, which is why we go all out to provide top-notch service at every step, from the product to the tasting. At Torrefactory, we don’t stop until your coffee is perfect!"

Objective 6: Empowering coffee growers
From day one, we have attached great importance to lasting relationships with our growers.
We believe that everyone should be treated with respect and paid fairly, especially when their coffee is exceptional.
For this reason, we only offer coffee from fair trade farms and responsible importers. We aim to build lasting relationships with coffee growers and value them, their businesses and the local economy.
But we don't stop there! We strive to go further by promoting direct trade. Through hard work, time and dedication, we have collaborated with La Finca de Doña Ana, a women-run coffee plantation in Honduras, to offer our first direct-trade coffee. In the future, we hope to establish direct relationships with coffee growers around the world, without intermediaries, to obtain high-quality beans directly from the source.
Objective 7: A good working environment, good coffee
At Torrefactory, we do our best to be a good (if not excellent?) employer. A healthy working environment is essential for happy employees, which is why we make the well-being of every employee a priority. In addition, we aim to promote a culture of equality and acceptance within our office. We want our employees to enjoy their work, their lives and their coffee. Ultimately, we truly believe that the way we treat our employees will have a positive repercussion, leading to optimal customer service and quality products.
Objective 8: Your satisfaction without compromise
We aim for nothing less than excellence in customer service. Quality customer service means putting the customer first, whatever the situation. From the quality of our products to the speed of delivery and our transparent pricing system, we understand the importance of providing reliable service. At the end of the day, our work is only finished when you can enjoy your cup of coffee.
Goal 9: Put people and equity at the heart of our relationships and our value chain
At Torrefactory, we are committed to respecting and defending human rights in all our business activities and relationships. Our approach is based on international standards (UN, ILO) to ensure a safe, dignified, and respectful environment for everyone.

Beyond respecting fundamental rights, we incorporate the following principles to build a more equitable corporate culture:

- Justice and Equity: We work to identify and remove historical or social barriers so that everyone, regardless of their background or identity, has equal access to opportunities.

- Diversity and Inclusion: We celebrate the richness of life experiences. We reject any judgment based on gender, religion, or sexual orientation, and we ensure that every voice is heard and valued.

We strictly prohibit all forms of discrimination or forced labor and require the same level of commitment from our partners.
