The Torrefactory manifesto
Roasting for impact
Who we are
Today, Torrefactory is the result of the time invested and the devotion of our close-knit team, who together defined three pillars on which we base each of our actions: providing more than just quality coffee, following an ecological approach and nurturing lasting relationships.
Our mission is to offer high-quality coffee at a reasonable price through a sustainable and socially-responsible approach.
All year round, we roast our sustainably harvested beans using an artisanal process in Mont-Saint-Guibert and Namur. Together, we are proud to offer quality beans and services to local businesses, as well as a selection of freshly roasted coffees to private individuals.
Roasting for impact
From harvesting the beans to packing the bags, our coffee is roasted to have a positive impact. On your mood, on our environment and on the people involved. Whether you're at home, on the road or in the office - enjoy our coffee wherever you are.
Our impact objectives.
Beyond quality coffee
At Torrefactory, every cup we serve is guided by purpose, creating an authentic, sustainable and delicious coffee experience. Firstly, we prioritize sustainable sourcing by working directly with producers and importers who share our values. Second, we strive to make excellent coffee affordable for everyone, creating an exceptional experience without compromising quality. Finally, our expertise in artisanal roasting at "La TF" brings out the unique flavors of each bean.
For this reason, we are committed to sourcing our coffee sustainably. We favor direct trade with small farms and cooperatives, as well as with importers who share our values.
The result? A cup of coffee that not only awakens your senses, but also supports a sustainable and socially responsible coffee industry.
For us, direct trade means working with importers who share our values and objectives. Thanks to these importers, who minimize middlemen and work directly with the cooperatives, we are able to buy directly from small farms while paying them a premium price for their coffee. However, we want to go beyond this model and buy direct from producers wherever possible. We're proud to say that we've taken our first step towards this goal by partnering with La Finca de Doña Ana in Honduras, where we source our beans directly.
Our coffee is the result of a passionate pursuit to reveal the unique flavors and aromas of each bean. We don't settle for anything less than exceptional, and that's why we're committed to making every coffee nothing short of extraordinary.
Our beans are roasted in small batches in Mont-Saint-Guibert using traditional methods.
We emphasize slow roasting to bring out the unique character of each coffee. Whether it's hints of blueberry in our Costa Rican coffee, or pleasant ripe fruit aromas in our organic Colombian coffee, we adapt our roasting recipe to bring out the full flavor profile of each bean. We pride ourselves on our perfectionist quality standards, tasting every batch to ensure that you always receive the best possible cup of coffee.
An ecological approach
Our environmental approach is based on two clear objectives. First, we focus our efforts on reducing our carbon emissions at every stage of our activities, from sourcing to operations and logistics. For emissions that cannot yet be avoided, we have chosen to offset them through rigorously selected projects, bearing in mind that offsetting can only be a complement—and never a substitute—for reduction actions. Second, we are committed to a local and circular economy, aiming for better use of resources and waste reduction. Our action plan covers the entire value chain: rethinking deliveries, reducing emissions, and introducing 100% recyclable packaging. At Torrefactory, ecology is not a promise, but a series of concrete actions, rooted in our philosophy and our desire to contribute to a more responsible coffee industry.
Long-term relationships
At Torrefactory, we build strong relationships by following several key objectives. Firstly, we support fair trade coffee producers, even going direct trade for unbeatable quality. In addition, we are committed to purchasing at least 50% of our raw materials from independent local suppliers (located in Belgium). We also strive to serve at least 75% local and independent customers. Internally, we make a point of creating a great team spirit at work, which is reflected in our exceptional coffee. Finally, we just want you to be delighted, which is why we go the extra mile to ensure top service every step of the way, from product to tasting. At Torrefactory, we don't stop until your coffee is perfect!"
We believe that everyone should be treated with respect and paid fairly, especially when their coffee is exceptional.
For this reason, we only offer coffee from fair trade farms and responsible importers. We aim to build lasting relationships with coffee growers and value them, their businesses and the local economy.
But we don't stop there! We strive to go further by promoting direct trade. Through hard work, time and dedication, we have collaborated with La Finca de Doña Ana, a women-run coffee plantation in Honduras, to offer our first direct-trade coffee. In the future, we hope to establish direct relationships with coffee growers around the world, without intermediaries, to obtain high-quality beans directly from the source.
