About this café
Located in the far south of Honduras, on the borders with El Salvador and Guatemala, the Cafesmo cooperative’s plantations thrive in the heart of the Mercedes hills. This exceptional terroir benefits from unique microclimates shaped by the country’s highest peaks: the majestic Cerro Pital to the west, the Guisayote National Reserve, and the Pacayita volcano. The coffee trees grow there in the natural shade of cypresses, sweetgums, and fruit trees, whose notes of citrus and banana enrich the complexity of the soil.
Meticulous care is taken in selecting varieties and adapting cultivation techniques to the altitude and fertility of the sandy-clay soil. Nature does things right: after a generous rainy season from May to October, the harvest takes place under the dry-season sun, from November to March, ensuring optimal conditions for picking and transport.
This specialty coffee, grown using sustainable farming practices, reflects the cooperative’s expertise. It stands out for its rich and complex flavor profile, enhanced by the biodiversity of its region of origin.
