About this café

This forest coffee, with its intense aromas of blackberry and grapefruit, comes from the Kaffa region, considered the cradle of Arabica coffee and classified as a biosphere reserve by UNESCO. Our "Gushe Buna" coffee is grown on the Ephrem Mulugeta farm, founded in 2001. The farm extends over 320 hectares of tropical forest, rich in biodiversity, where coffee trees grow in the shade of indigenous species such as Shego, Getem and Shola.

The cherries are harvested by hand, carefully sorted, then slowly dried in the shade for 21 days to preserve all their aromatic complexity. The processing station, located just 1 km from the farm, ensures rapid, controlled batch processing. The coffee is then exported by Gushe Buna Export, with a strong commitment to quality and traceability.

Meet the producer

Ephrem Mulugeta has been working in the coffee sector since 2001. He began by setting up coffee plant nurseries, before developing his own farm in the Kaffa region, the historic cradle of coffee and one of Ethiopia's most renowned areas.

Since 2016, he has been exporting his coffees directly to Europe and the United States, with the ambition of offering high-quality, carefully traced batches.

His farm, located on the border between the villages of Gundra and Shela, benefits from rich, fertile soils. There are warehouses, workers' dormitories, drying beds and a processing station, just one kilometer from the farm, for fast, careful processing of the cherries.
