About this café

In the heart of the Jimma highlands, in the Gomma district, coffee trees flourish at altitudes of between 1,900 and 2,000 m, in the midst of dense, unspoilt forests.

This unique terroir, cradle of the ancient Heirloom varieties, is cultivated using agroforestry methods: coffee trees cohabit with large shade trees, promoting biodiversity and naturally enriching the soil. This marriage of nature and tradition gives rise to a harmonious organic coffee, both smooth and complex, that expresses all the richness of its origins.

Meet the producer

Mustafa Mohamed Ali is a long-standing Belco producer, to whom he has been selling his coffee since 2016 and the granting of his export license.

His business is part of a family tradition, whose legacy he strives to uphold. This grower's family has been producing and selling coffee since the 1950s, particularly to Yemeni traders who used to come to his region to buy coffee. When Mohamed Ali took over management of the family plots in the 1980s, he immediately set about maintaining the coffee trees planted by his father.

His relatively small plots are planted with endemic varieties from the wild coffee trees of the Choche forest. To be more independent and better control his production, he has invested in drying and washing stations. In addition to coffee, he also produces milk and honey.

Very harmonious!

I was able to taste it at the Salon Valériane and found it very good and fruity. It was just as good as an espresso as a long drink :)
